Maharashtra biker booked for recklessly cutting into Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol’s convoy

A 32-year-old man, Shubham Vijay Vanit, was arrested by the Shivajinagar police after allegedly driving recklessly and weaving through the convoy of Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol in Sancheti Chowk on Sunday night. According to the police, Vanit was later found to be under the influence of alcohol, as revealed by a medical test.

The incident occurred around 8:30 PM on September 13, when Mohol was traveling from Pune airport to Kothrud in his convoy. Vanit had allegedly ridden his motorcycle in a zig-zag and negligent manner, cutting across Mohol's vehicle. The complainant, Ishwar Laxman Bhikule, a police constable working with Mohol for the past two years, filed the complaint.

Vanit has been booked under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act, including Section 281 for rash or negligent driving and Section 185 for driving under the influence of alcohol. Following the incident, Vanit was taken for medical treatment, and he has been instructed to appear before the investigation officer. Police Sub-Inspector Vikas Kathe of Shivajinagar police station is handling the investigation.
