Lots of Christian fans unfollowed me after revealing I am Muslim – Actress Adunni Ade

Nollywood actress Adunni Ade has revealed that her decision to openly identify as a Muslim has led to the loss of Christian fans on her social media accounts. In an interview with media personality Chude Jidenowo, Ade explained that the nature of her industry makes it "almost forbidden" to publicly declare one's Muslim faith. She stated, "In my line of work, it is almost forbidden for you to publicly say you are a Muslim. You could be looked down upon for doing that."

Ade admitted that she chose to share her religious beliefs because she was tired of keeping them hidden. Although she acknowledged that Christianity can be a good religion, she affirmed that Islam is the faith that resonates with her. She explained, "Islam for me, is not all about outward look. It is what is within. How you treat others."

After coming out publicly about her faith, Ade noted that she faced some backlash from her Christian followers. Some of them unfollowed her on social media, while others reached out to her through direct messages with negative comments. Despite the criticism, Ade expressed that she didn't pay attention to the opinions of those who unfollowed her.

Instead, she emphasized that her decision to be open about her faith is personal and what works for her. She concluded by noting that while many Muslims embraced her for speaking out, she remained focused on her own beliefs and feelings.
