Korea Expressway Corp. Expands Overseas Road Infrastructure Cooperation

Korea Expressway Corp. is intensifying its overseas road infrastructure ventures by enhancing ties with transport authorities in Bangladesh and Turkey. High-level discussions took place during the 2026 Global Infrastructure Cooperation Conference (GICC) in Seoul, which kicked off on September 15. In Bangladesh, officials from Korea Expressway Corp. met with the country's minister of road transport and bridges, Sheikh Rabiul Alam, to discuss extending an operations and maintenance (O&M) contract set to conclude in 2027.

The company entered the Bangladeshi market in 2014 via its involvement in the Padma Bridge construction supervision. Currently, Korea Expressway Corp. offers O&M services for the Padma Bridge and the N8 national highway.

In Turkey, the firm focused on bolstering its presence based on its growing success in the local market. A meeting with Ahmet Gülşen, director general of the Turkish General Directorate of Highways, led to discussions on expanding cooperation on subsequent infrastructure projects. Korea Expressway Corp. secured the Kınalı-Malkara O&M project and the Malkara-Çanakkale major maintenance project in 2024, following its win of the Nakkaş-Başakşehir investment project the previous year.

Building on these achievements, the company and Turkish authorities explored collaboration on the proposed İzmir Northeast Ring Road investment project.

The GICC serves as a platform for Korea Expressway Corp. to deepen connections with overseas government agencies and infrastructure organizations, while simultaneously uncovering new business prospects. On September 17, representatives from participating nations will visit the company's traffic control center, where they will be introduced to Korea Expressway Corp.'s intelligent transportation systems (ITS) and advanced traffic management technologies.

Established in 2013, the GICC is an international infrastructure cooperation event aimed at fostering collaboration between Korean enterprises and overseas governments and institutions. This year's conference welcomes around 500 infrastructure professionals and industry representatives, including ministers and vice ministers from more than 30 countries.

Korea Expressway Corp. President Yoo Jeong-hun commented on the conference, stating, "We were able to further strengthen our cooperation with major overseas institutions through our participation in the GICC. We will continue expanding our international cooperation network and make greater efforts to accelerate the company's expansion into overseas markets."
