Kim Kardashian awarded 1 euro by Paris court for 2016 robbery

On Tuesday, a Paris court awarded Kim Kardashian just one euro ($1.15) in compensation for the 2016 robbery she suffered in the French capital, the exact amount she had sought, according to her legal representative. The incident occurred while Kardashian was staying at the Hôtel de Pourtalès, where two individuals posing as police officers broke into her suite, restrained her with zip ties and tape, and absconded with over $6 million worth of jewelry.

The court's decision followed the conviction of eight individuals last year for their involvement in the robbery, which Kardashian described as "the most terrifying experience of my life." In a statement released jointly with her stylist, Simone Harouche, the duo expressed appreciation for the French judicial system, emphasizing that the decision was not solely about the monetary compensation but also about accountability and recognition.

The court also awarded 109,516 euros ($126,472) to a former hotel receptionist, who had requested 550,000 euros ($634,868) in damages for the trauma he endured during the October 2, 2016, robbery. The receptionist's lawyer, Mohand Ouidja, hailed the decision as a significant victory. The robbers, known in France as "les papys braqueurs" due to their advanced ages, included six individuals in their 60s and 70s who faced charges such as armed robbery, kidnapping, and gang association.

Upon conviction, none of the defendants returned to prison as they had already served their time in pretrial detention. Kardashian, expressing deep gratitude to the French authorities for pursuing justice in the case, acknowledged the crime's traumatic impact on her and her family.
