Kannada cinema legend Anant Nag to be honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke award

Renowned actor Anant Nag, celebrated for his prolific work in both Hindi and Kannada cinema, will receive the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2024, announced the government on Wednesday. With a career spanning over five decades and more than 250 films, the 78-year-old veteran is also a distinguished figure in the theatre realm. The award, the highest accolade in Indian cinema, will be presented at the National Film Awards ceremony in Kevadia, Gujarat, on September 22.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Anant Nag, commending his effortless performances, remarkable versatility, and brilliance that have left an indelible mark on Indian cinema, particularly Kannada cinema. Regardless of the role he undertakes, Nag consistently delivers depth and authenticity. In a post on X, Modi congratulated the veteran artist, stating: "This is indeed a richly deserved honor for a truly distinguished artist."

The Government of India, following the recommendation of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award Selection Committee, is thrilled to announce that Anant Nag will be conferred the Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2024 in recognition of his significant contributions to Indian cinema and an illustrious cinematic journey that has inspired generations.
