Jon Jones Defends His Drug-Test Failures and Mocks Islam Makhachev’s 2015 Knockout Loss, 170-Pound Champion Fires Back

Islam Makhachev and Jon Jones are in a heated standoff. Makhachev recently broke Anderson Silva’s record for the longest winning streak in UFC history with his 17th consecutive victory at UFC 330. This feat, coupled with his 29-1 record and titles in two weight classes, has earned him comparisons to the best of all time. However, Jones didn’t appreciate this praise.

He posted an image placing himself atop a list of UFC title-fight victories, asserting that championship-fight wins are a better measure than overall winning streaks. Makhachev, currently 12th on that list with seven title-fight wins, dismissed Jones’ streak citing his history of positive drug tests. He argued that Jones’ alleged 20-fight winning streak from 2009 to 2024 doesn’t exist because Jones was caught doping twice and had his wins reset following failed tests.

Jones fired back, dismissing the idea that his previous drug-test issues were intentional and mocking Makhachev’s past losses. He also mocked Makhachev for his infamous loss to Adriano Martins at UFC 192, an event Jones never faced during his career. Jones then targeted Makhachev and Daniel Cormier for their rule-breaking. He concluded by mocking Makhachev’s history with the rules and hinted at a potential rematch.

Makhachev responded by mocking Jones’ history with the rules as well, suggesting that Jones is “never the one to be blamed” for breaking them.
