He had a breakout performance on July 7, going 5-for-9 with a double, a home run, and two RBI in a doubleheader sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals. With Cooper Pratt now taking over as the primary shortstop, Ortiz has been making the most of his platoon spot alongside David Hamilton.

On Tuesday, Ortiz's average reached .270, with 14 hits and 46 RBI on the season, with his 14th hit being a double.
