Joanna Wietrzyk’s coach breaks silence after HYROX incident

Following an episode of faecal incontinence during a HYROX race in China, Joanna Wietrzyk's coach, Bayens, has spoken out to break his silence. The coach pleaded for understanding and judgment of the circumstances surrounding the event, rather than passing harsh criticism towards those involved. He emphasized that the athletes, judges, and officials had to make difficult decisions under intense pressure and that those decisions should be reviewed without tarnishing the character of those involved.

Bayens also condemned the personal abuse directed at Wietrzyk and others, stressing that discussion is valid but hatred and personal attacks are not. In response to the controversy, HYROX has apologized and vowed to implement new rules and procedures to prevent similar incidents in the future. They also confirmed that the flooring at the China venue would be changed to better protect athletes. The race's next event is set for September 17-20 in Maastricht and Mumbai.
