Ja’Kobi Lane headed to IR as the Ravens face injuries at wide receiver early in the season

Baltimore Ravens rookie wide receiver Ja Kobi Lane is headed to injured reserve after undergoing surgery on Wednesday morning. Lane's touchdown during the Baltimore's win over the Indianapolis Colts last weekend was initially ruled incomplete due to a penalty. He has since been sidelined with a wrist injury, leading to his place on the IR list.

This puts pressure on the team's wide receiver position, with Zay Flowers also battling an injury. Flowers left the game against the Colts with a hamstring issue and is currently day-to-day. Baltimore finished with over 500 yards of offense in the win, but the team's performance seemed strongest when Flowers was on the field. His five receptions for 150 yards and a touchdown before exiting in the second quarter showcased his skills.

If Flowers remains sidelined, Lamar Jackson may have fewer proven targets. Other injured players include Rashod Bateman, Devontez Walker, Trey Hendrickson, Ronnie Stanley, T.J. Tampa, and Calais Campbell. The team will rely heavily on players like Chris Moore, a 11-year veteran who was promoted from the practice squad, who caught a 53-yard pass in the win. Wide receiver depth will be tested during the upcoming home opener against New Orleans.
