iOS 27.2’s First Developer Beta Brings These Features to Some iPhones

Two days after Apple released iOS 27 to the public, the company unveiled the first developer beta for iOS 27.2. While iOS 27 introduced Siri AI and other features, this early peek at iOS 27.2 showcases Siri AI expanding to additional languages and enhancements in certain apps, such as FaceTime. Apple has announced that the foldable iPhone Duo will launch with iOS 27.1 later in the month, and all devices will eventually update to 27.2.

Since this is a beta version, I advise downloading it only on a secondary device. This update may contain bugs and reduce battery life. Developers can test the following features in the first iOS 27.2 developer beta. In iOS 27, Siri AI was only available in English. However, the first iOS 27.2 developer beta expands Siri AI to French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish.

Apple previously stated this language expansion would occur, demonstrating their commitment to improving Siri's capabilities. In the first iOS 27.2 developer beta, you can simultaneously use the front and rear cameras on your iPhone during FaceTime calls. This allows for larger group FaceTime sessions, as everyone doesn't have to fit into a single frame.

However, all participants must be using iOS 27 or later for this feature to function. The Podcasts app also received an update in the first iOS 27.2 developer beta. New Episodes and Continue Playing have been added to the top of the Home tab within the app. This addition helps users keep track of new podcasts and those they still need to finish, improving the app's organization.

The first iOS 27.2 developer beta also introduces the ability to create TV Profiles in the Apple TV app. You can assign profiles to children or others to prevent your preferences from being changed. For instance, if you're unhappy with the kids' shows recommended after your child watches Shape Island, you can create a profile specifically for them, so they can enjoy those quirky shows without affecting your viewing experience.

Another Apple TV update in the iOS 27.2 developer beta is Multiview. Developers with Apple TV subscriptions can watch up to four live sports streams simultaneously, including those from Major League Soccer and Formula 1, at once. This feature ensures you don't miss a crucial game or can observe a racecourse map while watching driver-view camera feeds.

Lastly, the first iOS 27.2 developer beta features a redesigned Health app. However, this redesign is expected to be launched later this year, although it was included in this beta build.
