Indian worker in Israel loses leg after construction-site accident

An Indian worker, Sharwan Kumar Warma, 36, from Rajasthan, recently lost his left leg in a construction site accident in Jerusalem. The incident occurred on Wednesday when tiles being lifted by a crane fell on him. His colleagues from India informed PTI that the accident happened at the construction site itself, as the crane's belt tore mid-air.

Warma's leg was severed from his body at the scene. He received emergency treatment at the construction site before being transferred to Hadassah Hospital in Ein Kerem, Jerusalem, in an unconscious state. He was initially admitted to the neurosurgery department but was later transferred to a general ward after starting to respond and speak.

The Israeli company where Warma works assured him of full insurance coverage, and the company is seeking assistance from Bituach Leumi for his care. The Indian embassy in Israel visited Warma at the hospital, and they are working with officials to ensure he is properly cared for. The incident has raised concerns about workplace safety and compensation for Indian workers in Israel. The Indian embassy is in touch with concerned authorities to provide proper care for Warma.
