Indian athlete's name reportedly missing from 2026 Asian Games accomodation list

Indian wushu athletes and their coaches encountered registration issues in Nagoya ahead of the 2026 Asian Games. According to a member of the team, six wushu players were successfully assigned rooms at the cruise ship used for accommodation, but one player and two coaches could not find their names during the registration process.

The Indian Olympic Association later confirmed that all players had indeed been allocated rooms. The table tennis team also faced a lengthy check-in process before settling in. These issues come as India grapples with broader concerns over the logistical arrangements for the Games. India's athletics team, for instance, reportedly arrived at their hotel without breakfast.

Additionally, Nagoya is not hosting a traditional athletes' village; instead, athletes will be accommodated in hotels, the Costa Serena cruise ship, and temporary container-style units. The cruise ship will house around 4,000 athletes and officials, while approximately 2,000 will reside in container accommodation. However, complaints have been made about cramped conditions and bed shortages in the container units, and heavy rain has caused water leaks and flooding at some venues.

With the opening ceremony scheduled for September 19, organizers are under pressure to swiftly resolve the remaining issues.
