Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu urged banks to extend credit to all sectors and sections of society during the 236th State Level Bankers’ Committee meeting. Addressing the gathering, Naidu emphasized the need for banks to ensure credit reaches all parts of the economy in line with the state's development priorities. While lending to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) had risen compared to the previous period, the overall credit disbursement remained below expectations.

Certain banks were falling short of their lending targets, according to the Chief Minister, who stressed that SLBC meetings would be ineffective without meeting these targets. Naidu highlighted the State's aim to become a leader in implementing the PM Surya Ghar scheme, which requires banks to provide substantial loans to households installing rooftop solar systems.

The state has set a target of 15% economic growth, but challenges like El Niño have created difficulties. Naidu called on banks to provide adequate credit to tenant farmers who often struggle to access institutional finance. He praised women members of self-help groups for their exemplary loan repayment records, noting that over 99% of women borrowers repay their loans on time, with only 0.67% defaulting.

To tackle loan defaulters, Naidu suggested focusing on recovering from the small percentage of defaulters and exploring a one-time settlement mechanism.
