House panel recommends contempt charge for billionaire Leon Black in Epstein probe

The House Oversight Committee has recommended charging billionaire Leon Black with contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with a subpoena related to the investigation of Jeffrey Epstein. Black, former CEO of private equity firm Apollo Global Management, has been accused of funneling millions to Epstein. Republicans and Democrats on the committee voted unanimously to recommend the contempt charge after Black missed a scheduled deposition and failed to provide requested documents.

Black has sued the committee, arguing that their subpoenas overstep their authority. The committee's ranking Democrat called Black's actions "unacceptable," while Black's attorney claims the committee is pursuing a "fishing expedition." The investigation into Epstein has been a bipartisan effort, with survivors of alleged sexual abuse coming forward with their stories.

Black has testified in the past but refused to answer questions about non-disclosure agreements during his voluntary interview.
