Grady Eckart scores two goals for Blue Jay soccer team

The Jamestown High School boys soccer team, the Blue Jays, secured a 2-1 victory over Legacy in a match that occurred on Tuesday night at Charlotte and Gordon Hansen Stadium. This is the team's second consecutive win, bringing their record to 2-6-2, while Legacy's record dropped to 1-5-3. Head coach Brandi Harty and her team will be back on the pitch on Friday, with the game scheduled to start at 5 p.m. in Dickinson.

Harty emphasized the importance of bringing energy to the game, stating that her team played well in the first half, controlling the play and attacking the in-line. The team maintained their high-energy performance throughout the match, playing a full 80 minutes as requested.

The game saw a scoreless first half, but Grady Eckart broke the deadlock in the 24th minute with a header off a Carson Hatch corner kick. Legacy managed to equalize the score in the 50th minute through a penalty kick by Nolan Healy. However, Eckart's second goal in the 55th minute put the Blue Jays ahead, 2-1.

Eckart, one of the nine seniors on the Blue Jays, is the team's leading scorer with five goals on the year. His determination and drive to win were evident throughout the match, and he acknowledged the contributions of freshman Liam Becker and junior Noah Lorenz. Both Becker and Lorenz were praised for their performances on the pitch, with Eckart highlighting their confidence and ability to connect and create scoring opportunities.

With two consecutive wins under their belt, the Blue Jays are hoping to maintain their winning streak in the second half of their season. Their primary goal is to beat the teams they've lost to in the past, with individual and team goals for every game they aim to achieve.
