Former TNCC president Selvaperunthagai and Rajya Sabha member Praveen Chakravarty trade barbs

Former Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K. Selvaperunthagai questioned the Congress party's partnership with another party during a press conference. Selvaperunthagai emphasized that the alliance should accept Rahul Gandhi as the next Prime Ministerial candidate. If the partner refuses to do so, Selvaperunthagai questioned the necessity of the alliance.

In response to Selvaperunthagai's remarks, Congress Rajya Sabha member Praveen Chakravarty told reporters at the airport, "Who is he today? He could have been anyone in the past." Chakravarty stated that there was no confusion surrounding the alliance and that their meeting to decide on its name was filled with laughter and camaraderie.

Later, Selvaperunthagai criticized Chakravarty in a statement, accusing him of having an elitist mindset. Selvaperunthagai argued that their alliance should base decisions on whether Rahul Gandhi is the PM candidate, and questioned the presence of the Chief Minister smiling and talking to Chakravarty during their meeting. Selvaperunthagai also demanded that the Chief Minister publicly comment on the removal of critical content related to PM Modi, Amit Shah, and the BJP from Assembly records.
