Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave review
I cannot remember the last time I put this many hours into a game for a review. And still, I'm sitting here, writing this, itching to play more of Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave. Despite some odd decisions for an RPG of this depth and scale - a single save slot and diluted difficulty, to name two - I haven't played a game that has captivated and fascinated me like this in years. This is Fire Emblem…
I have sunk countless hours into Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave for this review, and I am still eager to dive back in. Despite some unconventional choices for an RPG of this magnitude - such as only one save slot and reduced difficulty - the game has left me captivated and fascinated like few others in recent memory. This is Fire Emblem at its absolute peak, matching the sharpness and satisfaction of Awakening on the 3DS, with character work and storytelling as compelling as Three Houses.
It evokes the same sense of wonder and scale that multi-disc PS1 RPGs delivered in the 90s. Intelligent Systems has honed all the map-building and scenario-setting work from Engage, refining it further alongside the storytelling masterpiece that was Three Houses, to create an exceptional game, regardless of how you view it. This is a solid reason to purchase a Switch 2.
