Exclusive: Kristen Silverberg named next president and CEO of Business Roundtable

Kristen Silverberg, a seasoned policy expert and former ambassador, has been appointed as the next president and CEO of the Business Roundtable, a prominent policy voice representing America's leading CEOs. Silverberg, who currently holds the positions of BRT's president and COO, will take over from Josh Bolten, a former White House chief of staff, upon his departure on January 31.

The significance of this appointment lies in the fact that BRT is one of Washington's most influential associations, comprising CEOs from major U.S.-based companies with global impact. These CEOs rely on BRT to champion and disseminate the most critical messages they wish to convey to the government. Silverberg, who collaborated with Bolten in the White House and served as the U.S. ambassador to the European Union from 2008 to 2009, emphasized that a primary objective of BRT is to promote economic growth and job creation in the American economy, which is experiencing a significant transformation.

She stated that government and business leaders have a crucial opportunity and responsibility to bolster American growth and competitiveness while expanding opportunities for workers and communities. Silverberg, 55, previously served as an Assistant Secretary of State under President George W. Bush and as a law clerk to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and Judge David Sentelle.

She holds degrees from Harvard College and the University of Texas School of Law. Chuck Robbins, chair of BRT, praised Silverberg as a "proven and strategic leader" with deep trust and respect from the organization's board and members. Bolten expressed his delight at Silverberg's selection to lead BRT during challenging times ahead.

Bolten, who also serves on multiple major boards, plans to adopt a diversified approach for his upcoming tenure.
