Entain warns UK on gambling tax hikes, plans 400 job cuts

Entain, the corporation behind Ladbrokes, has warned the British government about potential tax hikes on gambling and announced plans to cut around 400 jobs in customer service. The company's chief executive, Stella David, wrote a letter to British Prime Minister Andy Burnham expressing concerns over the impact such tax increases could have on the industry and the thousands of workers employed in betting shops and communities across Britain.

The letter was addressed on September 11 and was made public on Wednesday. David urged Burnham to consider the impact of a potential substantial increase in Machine Games Duty, which, if doubled, would add another significant cost to businesses already grappling with major tax hikes.
