Egypt, France discuss cooperation on technical education

On Tuesday, September 15, 2026, Egypt's Minister of Education and Technical Education, Mohamed Abdel Latif, engaged in discussions with the French Ambassador to Egypt, Eric Chevallier, to explore avenues for strengthening cooperation in technical education. The primary objective of these talks was to leverage French expertise to enhance technical education programs and better prepare students for the job market.

Abdel Latif highlighted the ministry's efforts to align training with the demands of both local and international employers. He expressed Egypt's intent to collaborate with France in developing technical education programs that adhere to French standards, thereby equipping students with internationally recognized qualifications and certificates. By doing so, the programs would improve graduates' employment opportunities across local, regional, and global markets.

The two nations also deliberated on potential cooperation in various technical fields, with a specific focus on agriculture, hospitality, and hotel management. The emphasis was on equipping students with the necessary skills to thrive in these sectors. Abdel Latif emphasized the ministry's pursuit of additional international partnerships and collaborations with the private sector to ensure that students acquire practical skills that align with evolving economic and employment landscapes.

In response, Chevallier conveyed France's willingness to sustain its cooperation with Egypt, particularly in the realm of technical education and Applied Technology Schools. The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Education Ministry and representatives of the French Embassy, the French Institute in Egypt, and the French Development Agency.
