Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour loses all 4 remaining support acts after Macklemore's removal over pro-Palestine comments

Ed Sheeran clarified on Tuesday that the removal of Macklemore from his US concert tour was not his decision, but rather that of the tour promoter. The pop star expressed that while he respected Macklemore's stance on political issues, he personally believed in using his platform for art rather than politics. Macklemore's exclusion from the tour came after he made pro-Palestinian comments and "Free Palestine" remarks during a September 4 concert in New Jersey.

Following Macklemore's departure, several musical acts, including Aaron Rowe, Beoga, Lukas Graham, and Finneas, announced they would also leave the tour in solidarity with Macklemore and his stance. The promoter, Messina Touring Group, informed Sheeran that venue owners were informing the promoter that they would not permit a concert to proceed with Macklemore in the lineup.

Macklemore is known for his pro-Palestinian advocacy, particularly through his 2024 song "Hind's Hall," which was a protest anthem in support of pro-Palestinian demonstrators in Gaza. He faced criticism from pro-Israeli groups and singer Pink, among others, who argued that his remarks at concerts could put the safety of Jewish and pro-Israeli individuals at risk, as well as drawing on antisemitic stereotypes from a 2014 costume he wore to a concert.

Despite the controversy, Macklemore has received support from advocacy groups and other artists who appreciate his activism.
