Diyas, saplings, cow donations & bike rallies: Gujarat celebrates PM Modi’s 76th birthday

In anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 76th birthday on Thursday, Gujarat will witness a series of events marking the milestone. Across the state, preparations include lighting 76,000 diyas and donating 76 cows to economically disadvantaged women. In Ahmedabad, Vishva Umiyadham, a Patidar community organization, plans a midnight celebration at Vaishnodevi Circle.

The event, attended by approximately 5,000 people, will feature a Maha Arati, prayers for the Prime Minister's longevity, and the reciting of Vande Mataram. Simultaneously, 76 cows of the Gir breed will be gifted to women from underprivileged backgrounds run by Babu Patel, president of the Shree Umiya Mataji Sansthan. The gesture aims to empower marginalized women by providing them with livelihood support and fostering self-reliance.

Additionally, the Vishwa Gujarati Samaj will distribute 76,000 saplings for kitchen gardens, encouraging vegetable cultivation and promoting healthy living. The BJP has also announced a bike rally, Seva Sankalp Bike Yatra, from Vadnagar to Varanasi, and back, commencing on September 17 and concluding on October 7. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will initiate the Vadnagar-to-Varanasi segment, while Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will inaugurate the Varanasi-to-Vadnagar route.
