DAP has urged the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) to promptly arrange a formal briefing session with the family of a teenager killed by a 15-year-old male who allegedly stabbed him at a school in Bandar Utama, following the release of the juvenile suspect. Teo Nie Ching, the DAP Women's Deputy, stated that the prosecution must administer criminal justice in a humane manner by explaining several important matters to the family and their lawyers.

"The family has the right to receive a comprehensive explanation regarding the court's decision based on medical evidence, as well as the true purpose of the court's order for the accused to be detained under Section 348 of the Criminal Procedure Code," she said in a statement. Teo, also deputy communications minister, emphasized that justice is not only to be carried out but also to be understood and clearly felt by those who suffer the greatest loss.

"Do not let the bereaved family have to endure the impact of a complex court decision on their own or only through the news headline," she added. Yesterday, the 16-year-old victim's mother, Yap Shing Xuen, appealed to the public to sign a petition requesting the AGC to seek the release of the accused. Yap's wife, Wong Lee Ping, said the family's courtroom space is limited as the decision to file an appeal and how to do it ultimately lies with the prosecution.

The High Court in Shah Alam released the male juvenile on Monday after determining he was not insane when the offense occurred. However, Judge Adlin Abdul Majid ordered the juvenile to remain in custody under the Sultan of Selangor's authorization at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta, Perak, for treatment.
