Chhattisgarh man found dead in Pune lake with legs tied to stone, one arrested from Delhi

A 26-year-old man from Chhattisgarh, Mahendrakumar Omprakash Banjare, was found dead in a lake in Pune, with his hands and legs tied to a stone. The Pimpri-Chinchwad police have arrested a 20-year-old man from Delhi, Gopal alias Raj Sadhan Biswas, in connection with the murder. The incident occurred after Banjare went missing from his home in Mulshi on August 30.

His wife, Sunita Banjare, reported him missing and launched a search, but his body was discovered in the lake on September 2. The post-mortem examination revealed that Banjare was alive when he entered the water. The police suspect robbery as the motive behind the crime, as Banjare had just received his salary and was carrying cash.

Biswas and his accomplice robbed him of his cash and beat him up, then tied his hands and legs to a stone before throwing him into the lake while he was still alive. The Pimpri-Chinchwad police crime branch is investigating the case and continues to search for the second suspect, with a team currently deployed in Delhi.
