CDF Munir, US-based POWERUS discuss defence technology, cooperation

Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir met with United States-based defense and critical infrastructure company POWERUS on Wednesday. The discussion centered on emerging defense technology trends and potential areas for collaboration, including defense procurement, production, and capacity building, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement. POWERUS delegation was spearheaded by Robert Bret Velicovich.

CDF Munir emphasized the significance of technological innovation and advanced solutions in enhancing national security and resilience during the meeting. POWERUS, as stated on its website, specializes in constructing hardware and unified systems architecture tailored for high-consequence environments.

Both parties expressed their willingness to deepen engagement in areas of mutual interest, as ISPR reported. In January, US and Pakistani army personnel completed training at the National Counter-Terrorism Center through Exercise Inspired Gambit. The exercise focused on combined infantry skills, tactics, and counterterrorism operations.

In December of the previous year, the United States approved a $686 million deal for advanced technology and upgrade packages for Pakistan’s F-16 fighter aircraft.
