Cardinals activate rookie second baseman JJ Wetherholt from injured list

Saint Louis activated young second baseman JJ Wetherholt from the 10-day injured list on Wednesday before their game against the San Francisco Giants. Wetherholt had been on the injured list since Aug. 30 due to right wrist tendinitis and missed 15 games in total. During his 130 games this season, Wetherholt has managed a .242 batting average, with 14 doubles, 17 home runs, and 48 RBIs.

He has also scored 88 runs and stolen 14 bases. At 24 years old, Wetherholt participated in his normal pregame routine before being activated. This marks his first time facing the Giants. Additionally, infielder Ramón Urías and pitcher Peter Strzelecki have been designated for assignment, with Strzelecki posting a 5.78 ERA in eight games for Saint Louis.
