BYD will eventually need three assembly plants, one battery factory in Europe, adviser says

Alfredo Altavilla, BYD's special adviser for Europe, stated that the Chinese automaker will eventually require three vehicle assembly plants and one battery factory in Europe to meet its growth objectives while adhering to EU regulations. BYD is currently constructing its inaugural European plant in Hungary and anticipates deciding on a second manufacturing site by the end of the year.

Altavilla mentioned that the company is aiming to acquire and renovate an existing facility rather than constructing a brand-new plant. Spain and France are among the preferred locations for the second plant. He emphasized that this development will not occur swiftly, but it is evident that achieving the volume targets set by BYD while complying with European regulations necessitates this infrastructure.
