Boox Palma 3 launches at $340 with Android 16 and handwriting support

Boox has introduced the Palma 3, a compact E Ink device designed to run a newer version of Android and support handwriting input. Positioned between its Palma 2 and larger Note Air6 C and Note Mini C models, the Palma 3 trades the previous model's budget-friendly look for a more premium aluminum frame and paper-like backplate. The device maintains its monochrome, 6.13-inch display and retains pocket-sized portability.

Powered by a Qualcomm Q-6690 octa-core processor, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage, users can further expand storage with a microSD card. Boox lists a 3,950mAh battery, a 16-megapixel camera, and a fingerprint sensor built into the power button. Notably, the Palma 3 is the first in the lineup to run Android 16, giving users access to Google's latest mobile operating system.

Unlike its predecessors, the Palma 3 supports apps from the Google Play Store, offering flexibility for users who prefer various reading and note-taking applications. The optional stylus, sold for $46, works with compatible note-taking apps, transforming the device into a small digital notepad. Despite being pricier than its predecessor, the Palma 3 competes with larger E Ink note-taking devices like the reMarkable Paper Pro. Boox has not disclosed a specific release date, stating that the Palma 3 will be available soon.
