Awqaf concludes first ‘Waqf Ambassadors’ seminar series for Imams and preachers

Doha, Qatar - The General Directorate of Endowments at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs concluded the inaugural "Waqf Ambassadors" seminar series for Imams and preachers, a virtual program aimed at raising awareness and showcasing the social and developmental impact of endowments. The initiative emphasizes the crucial role of religious leaders in promoting the culture of waqf, leveraging their credibility and frequent engagement with diverse societal groups.

The first seminar, "Promoting the Culture of Waqf and Enhancing its Community Impact," underscored the importance of endowments and their potential to create sustainable change. The final seminar, "The Preacher as a Waqf Ambassador: From Influential Words to Creating Sustainable Impact," delved into how Imams and preachers can effectively introduce the concept of waqf, its various domains, and benefits to potential donors, steering them towards reputable channels.

Ghanem Abdul Latif Al Rumaihi, Head of the Marketing Section at the General Directorate of Endowments, highlighted waqf's adaptive nature and its capacity to address a wide range of societal needs across numerous sectors. Endowment assets can encompass cash, real estate, shares, financial balances, and other movable and immovable properties, offering donors a broad spectrum of options tailored to their preferences and financial capacities.

Al Rumaihi stressed that by familiarizing the public with the different forms and fields of waqf, the concept becomes more relatable, and its tangible benefits in areas such as healthcare, education, family support, Quranic education, and mosque maintenance become evident. He emphasized the pivotal role Imams and preachers play as ambassadors of waqf, given their respected status and extensive interaction with society.

Their advocacy for waqf awareness can significantly broaden the reach of this charitable practice, fostering wider participation in sustainable giving.
