Askey saddened by 'baffling' Truro City defeat

Truro City's manager, John Askey, expressed his puzzlement over his team's 1-0 home defeat to Salisbury in the National League South. Despite controlling possession and creating multiple scoring opportunities, particularly in the second half, Truro City ultimately failed to capitalize on their chances. The only goal came from Josh Hedges in the eighth minute, with Salisbury also hitting the crossbar during the first half.

Second-half goals from Will Dean and Jordan Alonge fell to the crossbar for Salisbury. Askey, speaking to BBC Radio Cornwall, found it difficult to summarize the defeat, stating that they had almost scored a goal but ultimately couldn't. This was Truro City's second league loss of the season, dropping them to seventh place in National League South, while Salisbury climbed to fourth.

The loss followed a 1-1 draw at home to Walton & Hersham the previous Saturday, which Askey found frustrating. He acknowledged that there were occasions where Truro City should have found the back of the net but ultimately did not. Askey suggested that the team may not see such a high volume of crosses into the opposition's box in the remainder of the season.
