Asian Games: Aw Jian Ting, Lim Pei Yao launch Malaysia’s pentathlon bid as fencing seeding round begins

KUALA LUMPUR, September 16 — Malaysia's modern pentathlon hopefuls Aw Jian Ting and Lim Pei Yao struggled to secure a spot in the final of the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games. The athletes faced off in the fencing seeding round at Anjo Sports Park, where Jian Ting finished 34th and Pei Yao placed 27th. Jian Ting achieved seven wins and 28 losses in 35 bouts, while Pei Yao secured nine victories and 23 defeats from 32 bouts.

Pei Yao has the chance to advance to the final for the remaining four semi-final disciplines on the following day – fencing direct elimination, obstacle, swimming, and laser-run. Jian Ting will also compete on Friday, participating in the final four disciplines using the same competition schedule as the fencing seeding round.
