Article 371(J) provisions will be implemented fully, says Priyank Kharge

Karnataka's Home, IT-BT and e-Governance Minister Priyank Kharge pledged to fully implement Article 371(J) during a seminar in Kalaburagi on Wednesday. The constitutional provision guarantees reservations in education and employment for the Kalyana Karnataka region. Kharge assured that any shortcomings in its execution would be addressed, emphasizing the government's commitment to ensuring the benefits reach the region's people.

The UPA-II government enacted Article 371(J) in 2000, with Mallikarjun Kharge's leadership in persuading political parties to support the amendment. The Kalyana Karnataka Economic Mission aims to boost the region's economy, with initiatives such as a laboratory for LEAP, a Global Capability Centre, and an IT park. Healthcare, education, and infrastructure projects have received significant funding, including ₹18,000 crore spent by the Kalyana Karnataka Regional Development Board.
