Arakhamia warned NABU and SAPO of imminent attack before Kravchenko’s move against Kryvonos

Servant of the People faction leader David Arakhamia had warned Ukraine’s anti-corruption bodies about an impending attack a week prior to former prosecutor general Ruslan Kravchenko's charges against National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) Director Semen Kryvonos, reported Ukrainska Pravda on Sept. 15 based on political sources.

Arakhamia's warning, made during a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, aimed to protect the then-prosecutor general, according to the outlet's sources. Zelenskyy ultimately dismissed Kravchenko following the meeting, while the prosecutor general reportedly prepared both a counterattack and his departure from the country.

On Sept. 14, Kravchenko announced charges against Kryvonos, alleging he forged documents to gain unlawful benefit. Kryvonos denied the accusations, stating the case was fabricated. NABU called it a continuation of attacks on anti-corruption institutions. President Zelenskyy subsequently urged parliament to support Kravchenko's dismissal.

On Sept. 14, Zelenskyy suspended Kravchenko from the position via presidential decree, claiming he was abroad on an official business trip. Later that evening, the Office of the Prosecutor General denied the charges, stating no charges had been pressed due to lack of legal grounds. On Sept. 15, parliament approved Kravchenko’s dismissal with 317 votes, and Zelenskyy signed the decree removing him from office on the same day.
