A Napoli la nuova sede del Consolato Onorario della Repubblica di Albania

The Albanian honorary consulate in Italy has inaugurated a new headquarters in Naples, located at Villa Doria d’Angri. This prominent figure in the Albanian business world, Giuseppe Lettieri, oversaw the opening. Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, along with other Albanian dignitaries, including the Campania Regional President Roberto Fico, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Edmondo Cirielli, Napoli’s mayor Gaetano Manfredi, Albanian Ambassador to Italy Anila Bitri Lani, and former State Undersecretary Gianni Letta, attended the ceremony.

Prime Minister Rama emphasized that the inauguration of the honorary consulate signifies more than a mere consulate; it represents a connection between two historically close and culturally similar realities. He highlighted that celebration of this friendship, which transcends mere friendship, called for a more significant site than Naples, a city rich in history not confined to museums but embedded in its streets, neighborhoods, and people.

Naples’ mayor, Gaetano Manfredi, and Rama agreed on the importance of the Balkans as a significant area for Europe, where strengthening bonds and creating opportunities is crucial. Manfredi mentioned their joint intention to develop a twin-town relationship with Durazzo and strengthen this long-standing connection with the Balkans and Albania.

Roberto Fico, the President of the Campania Region, shared how Albania feels like home when visited, noting the cultural and economic exchange that should be further nurtured. The new consulate marks the culmination of diplomatic efforts to provide a concrete reference point for the Albanian community in Campania and businesses interested in developing commercial ties between the two Adriatic shores.

Giuseppe Lettieri, the Honorary Consul, reiterated the dual commitment of ensuring constant support for the Albanian community and facilitating economic exchanges, transforming historical friendship into tangible entrepreneurial opportunities.
