8th CPC: How much HRA Level 10 officers may get

The 8th Pay Commission held discussions in Chandigarh, examining various issues related to central government employees' pay, pension, allowances, and work-related changes. House rent allowance (HRA) was a prominent topic, as HRA is a substantial portion of an employee's salary. Stakeholders from numerous organizations, including government employees, pensioners, and other bodies, are advocating for an increase in HRA rates.

The National Council – Joint Consultative Machinery (NC-JCM) has proposed raising HRA rates from the 7th Pay Commission's ranges of 24%, 16%, and 8% for X, Y, and Z-category cities, respectively, to 40%, 35%, and 30%. Currently, central government employees receive 30% HRA for X-category cities, 20% for Y, and 10% for Z, following the dearness allowance adjustment to 50% in January 2024.
