7 marathons in 7 days? Tampa couple is running around the world

Jill and Dougin Walker, a Tampa couple, are set to embark on an extraordinary challenge in 2027. The World Marathon Challenge will see them run seven marathons on seven different continents within seven consecutive days. This grueling journey begins on January 30 in Antarctica and concludes on February 5 in Miami. The Walkers, both seasoned endurance athletes, have already completed over 100 Ironman triathlons each and are on track to achieve this new goal.

They will each run 183.4 miles, completing the feat in just 168 hours. Their previous record includes six Ironman races spread across six continents in just six weeks. Dougin, who is 61, mentioned that while Antarctica may pose a sleep challenge for Jill, the couple's extensive travel experience will help them adjust. Their dedication to endurance challenges is deeply personal; they got married during an Ironman in Cozumel and have even combined work and celebration during other races.

The World Marathon Challenge also presents an opportunity for social interaction, as they expect to meet and form friendships with other competitors. Looking ahead, the Walkers plan to participate in the 100th Comrades Marathon in South Africa in June 2027, a significant event in the running world. Both Walker's are avid Boston Marathon runners, with Jill aiming for her 15th consecutive Boston Marathon finish next year, making it Dougin's 12th.
