YouTube’s login-breaking bug is getting a fix on TVs and consoles

Users encountered an error when attempting to log into their YouTube accounts on TVs and some consoles. The issue caused them to be unable to access their accounts even with the correct password. This bug was reported by users over the last couple of days and appeared to affect devices such as Xbox, PlayStation consoles, smart TVs, and streaming hardware that YouTube categorizes as "licensing room devices."

YouTube confirmed that the login bug, which logged users out and prevented them from re-entering their accounts, had been resolved. The company stated that the issue had been investigated and was now fully fixed in a community post. It is unclear when the problem initially occurred, but Reddit has seen numerous new threads within the past 24 hours, indicating that a significant number of users worldwide were impacted.

The community post did not indicate that an app update was required; instead, the problem seemed to be a server-side bug that blocked access to Google Accounts, in some instances including guest accounts.
