Youth pledges to marry a minor when both reach legal age, gets bail in POCSO case

A 20-year-old engineering student arrested in a POCSO case secured bail from the Madras High Court by promising not to marry a schoolgirl until she reached the legally permissible age. The court took notice of the girl's counsel, who expressed no serious objection to his release on bail, while imposing safeguards to prevent pressure or interference during the proceedings.

The student's affidavit stated he would not allow caste or community considerations to impede a lawful marriage if the girl chose to marry him after attaining the marriageable age. The case has two conflicting accounts, with the defense alleging a physical relationship and the girl's counsel claiming forced penetration and her pregnancy.

Bail was granted with a Rs 5,000 bond and strict conditions, including a commitment from the accused to comply and not interfere with the investigation or evidence.
