Yemen backs Saudi Arabia's right to defend its security at UN

The midday outdoor work ban under the sun in Saudi Arabia has concluded after a three-month period, on Tuesday, Sept. 15. This decision was announced by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, in collaboration with the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health (NCOSH), and marked the end of the ban that was in effect from June 15. The ban imposed restrictions on all private sector companies and establishments between 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., requiring them to strictly adhere to safety protocols.

The primary objective of the midday outdoor work ban was to protect workers from heat stress, exhaustion, and health risks associated with prolonged exposure to high temperatures during the peak summer months. The ministry had emphasized the importance of organizing work hours, providing shaded rest areas, and ensuring a sufficient supply of drinking water to mitigate these risks.

The three-month enforcement period entailed extensive monitoring and awareness-raising efforts. The ministry conducted 29,945 inspection visits throughout the Kingdom, resulting in a commendable 95 percent compliance rate among establishments. Out of these inspections, 1,771 violations were recorded, while 41 reports were addressed concerning the implementation of the decision.

These statistics demonstrate a growing awareness among businesses of the significance of complying with occupational safety and health requirements, as well as the commitment to maintaining safe working environments. The ban's conclusion signifies a step forward in promoting safe and healthy work conditions across various sectors in Saudi Arabia.
