Xiaomi 18 Pro Series Launching This Month With Smarter Rear Screen

Xiaomi has announced that the Xiaomi 18 Pro series will be released in China later this month, alongside new features for the phones' rear display. A teaser on Weibo featured the secondary screen displaying the word "Generating," potentially indicating AI-generated content for the rear panel. The teaser reveals the possibility that the rear screen could offer more than just wallpapers, widgets and shortcuts.

Xiaomi has not provided details on the feature yet, but plans to share further information tomorrow. According to Xiaomi, users have interacted with app cards on the Xiaomi 17 Pro's rear screen over 4 million times daily, while more than 3.5 million wallpapers were added to the display daily daily. The company has also added live wallpapers and interactive tools to the previous generation's rear-screen features.

The teaser confirms that the Xiaomi 18 Pro will retain a familiar design with a Leica-branded triple-camera setup, occupying most of the camera island, with minor refinements like thinner bezels and a possible change to the front punch-hole camera. A new physical button on the frame is also reportedly included. Additionally, earlier leaks suggested Xiaomi could introduce a privacy mode with enhanced privacy display technology, though this has not been officially confirmed by the company.
