Wood secures $200m contract from ExxonMobil for PNG LNG project

ExxonMobil PNG has awarded Wood a $200 million contract to provide construction services for the PNG LNG project in Papua New Guinea. The agreement, valid for five years, encompasses various aspects of the project, including maintenance and enhancement of critical facilities. Wood, an engineering and construction firm, has been active in Papua New Guinea since 2013, supplying various services for energy projects.

The contract covers work at the Hides Gas Conditioning Plant, the LNG plant at Caution Bay, and around 700km of pipeline infrastructure, along with associated well pads and flowlines. Wood's PNG LNG operations team, comprising over 200 staff, will be responsible for project management, civil and structural construction, piping and mechanical works, and electrical and instrumentation services.

The contract aims to ensure the safety, efficiency, and reliability of the infrastructure supporting LNG supply to Asian customers. Wood's COO, Steve Nicol, emphasized the company's commitment to asset integrity, skilled workforce development, and community engagement.
