‘Widow’s Bay’ Wins Outstanding Comedy Series at 2026 Emmys

For the first time in Emmy history, the category of Outstanding Comedy Series was graced by a supernatural twist. “Widow’s Bay,” the latest addition to the competition, topped the reigning champion, “Hacks,” in its final season to claim the prestigious award. While other eerie comedies have previously been recognized in the category, none have managed to secure the top prize.

Shows such as Netflix’s “Wednesday” and Jemaine Clement’s vampire comedy, “What We Do in the Shadows,” have both been nominated for their supernatural elements. However, none managed to win the award. Prior to “Widow’s Bay,” shows like “Bewitched” and “The Ghost and Mrs. Muir” had achieved success in the comedy category but never captured the Outstanding Comedy Series award.
