Why we dumped Obi for Tinubu as choice for 2027

Ahead of the 2027 Nigerian presidential election, the Charismatic Bishops' Conference of Nigeria has revealed the reason for shifting its backing from Peter Obi, the candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC). In an interview with Channels Television, the group's leader, Leonard Kawas, explained their decision.

Although they initially backed Obi over Tinubu in the 2023 election, they changed their stance because they now believe that President Tinubu is on the right path. This is the reason they have decided to support his re-election bid. Kawas clarified that while he could have chosen Tinubu for convenience in 2023, he did not do so due to a fundamental human right.

Based on the current situation and divine guidance, he and his group are now supporting President Tinubu for the 2027 election, foreseeing his potential to propel Nigeria to unprecedented heights across various domains. The Charismatic Bishops recently made headlines by openly endorsing and expressing their support for Tinubu in the upcoming election.

This development comes as the race for the presidency in Nigeria's general election on January 16, 2027, involving President Tinubu, Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and other candidates is set to commence.
