‘Why didn’t you stop after hitting me’: Woman questions Gurugram hit & run accused’s defence

The recent Gurugram hit-and-run case involving a woman biker, Shivani Chauhan, and her attackers has sparked widespread debate. The incident took place on September 13 when Chauhan and her friends were riding their bikes on a Sunday. According to Chauhan, the accused, Kalyan Baisla, deliberately swerved into her lane and collided with her bike. Baisla, driving a car with a Haryana number plate, was captured on video tailing the group before the incident occurred.

Chauhan and her friends claim that Baisla intentionally hit her as she refused to pull over when asked. Another rider who attempted to stop Baisla testified that the car sped away after the collision. Baisla, however, maintains that the crash was accidental. In an interview with TV channel Aaj Tak, he alleged that the group of bikers was constantly changing speed, causing confusion for his car.

Chauhan responded to Baisla's claims in a video, refuting the notion that her group was "pinching" him. She argued that it was clear in her own video who was causing the disturbance and questioned how her actions could have led to his chase. Chauhan also addressed Baisla's claim that he couldn't identify her as a woman, stating it was impossible for him not to recognize her due to her long hair tied in a ponytail.

She accused Baisla of not posting all the available videos and questioned his claim of feeling bad for her, asking why he didn't stop to check on her.

Chauhan emphasized the severity of the accident, stating that a few seconds could have resulted in serious injuries or even death. She expressed shame for individuals who would cause such harm while pretending to care about her well-being and the safety of others on the roads. Chauhan concluded by warning that such individuals should be taught the proper way to drive.
