Volvo EX30 Cross Country Launches In Malaysia

Volvo Car Malaysia has unveiled the new Volvo EX30 Cross Country, a ruggedized variant of its compact, fully electric SUV tailored for enthusiasts eager to venture beyond urban landscapes. The locally manufactured vehicle is priced at RM218,888 on the road, excluding insurance. The EX30 Cross Country reintroduces Volvo's Cross Country moniker, initially launched on the V70 XC in 1997.

As the inaugural fully electric model bearing the suffix in Malaysia, it embodies the brand's enduring dedication to comfort and assurance across varied road conditions.

Distinctly rugged compared to the standard EX30, the Cross Country undergoes several exterior modifications to exude a more robust appearance. These enhancements comprise blackened front and rear sections, front and rear skid plates, uncoloured wheel arch extensions, and mudguards. Standing 19mm higher than its counterpart, the Cross Country also features unique 19-inch wheels to accentuate its elevated profile.

A roof basket is included in the Malaysian launch package, complementing its outdoor-focused aesthetic and augmenting its carrying capacity.

The front of the vehicle showcases artwork inspired by the Kebnekaise mountain range in Arctic Sweden. Three exterior color options are available: Crystal White, Vapour Grey, and Cloud Blue, each paired with an Indigo interior featuring textile and Nordico upholstery, along with denim-colored door panels. To enhance storage practicality, Volvo retains the minimalist cabin design of the standard EX30.

However, modifications include the removal of front door speakers, with audio output directed through a soundbar mounted on the dashboard, expanding storage compartments in both front doors. Additional storage is provided via a sliding storage tunnel and a larger compartment located on the floor between the front passengers. The glove compartment has been repositioned to the center console for easier access by both the driver and front passenger.

Rear passengers benefit from a removable and washable storage box situated beneath the central tunnel, which can also serve as a waste bin for extended journeys and outdoor activities.
