Vietnam welcomes King and Queen of Thailand with 21-gun salute

On Friday, the 21-gun salute served as a salutation to the Thai King and Queen as they inaugurated a state visit to Vietnam, scheduled from the 14th to the 16th of September. Soon after, General Secretary and President Lam and the Thai monarch, along with their high-level delegations, embarked on discussions.

Vietnam and Thailand share a long-standing bond of friendship, which dates back to 1976 when diplomatic relations were established. Since then, bilateral cooperation has experienced rapid growth, both in scope and depth. Both nations have consistently maintained robust relations and a high level of political trust among their respective leaders and citizens.

This solid foundation allows for the deepening of bilateral ties and the strengthening of trust across all spheres – State-to-State, Government-to-Government, parliamentary, business, local, and interpersonal.

Today, Thailand holds the distinction of being Vietnam's largest trading partner within ASEAN. Thailand currently engages in 813 valid investment projects in Vietnam, placing it eighth among 153 countries and territories investing in Vietnam and second among ASEAN investors. Vietnamese investors, in turn, have 23 valid projects in Thailand, focusing mainly on trade, services, technology, and real estate.

In addition to economic ties, defense and security cooperation has become increasingly significant. Tourism and people-to-people exchanges also represent notable aspects of their bilateral relationship. The state visit by the Thai King and Queen holds a special significance, marking a landmark event in the strong friendship and cooperation between the two countries over the past five decades.
