US attorney general says probes handled by ex-prosecutor DiGenova will continue

U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche announced on Tuesday that any probes under former federal prosecutor Joseph DiGenova's jurisdiction will continue following his resignation last week. Blanche expressed gratitude for DiGenova's work and stated that any ongoing investigations would proceed as usual. DiGenova joined the Justice Department in April to lead an investigation into former President Donald Trump, examining several of Trump's adversaries and alleging a long-running criminal conspiracy against him.

The probe has investigated the 2017 intelligence report suggesting Russia aided Trump's 2016 campaign, as well as recent inquiries into Trump's handling of classified documents and his attempts to invalidate the 2020 election results. Despite DiGenova's resignation, Blanche emphasized that the investigation would not be hindered and would continue as any investigation would in the event of a change in leadership.
