UK, US and Netherlands warn of Iranian spyware targeting dissidents and journalists

Britain, the United States, and the Netherlands have jointly warned of a dangerous Iranian-linked spyware campaign targeting dissidents, activists, and journalists around the globe. The malicious software, dubbed "CHOSEN BRICK," is being utilized by operatives allegedly linked to Iran to infiltrate the devices and accounts of their targets. According to Reuters, the three nations released a joint advisory outlining the threat posed by the spyware.

The UK's National Cyber Security Centre revealed that the malware can steal emails and messages, access social media accounts and device microphones, and capture screenshots. Attackers have been known to impersonate trusted individuals and send fraudulent documents, such as purported MRI scan results, to entice victims into downloading the malware.

In the United States, the FBI reported that Iran's Ministry of Intelligence is leveraging this technology to collect information, expose sensitive data, and tarnish the reputations of those targeted.
