Trump nominates Lee Greenwood's wife to serve as ambassador to Barbados

President Donald Trump has nominated Kimberly Greenwood, the wife of singer Lee Greenwood, to serve as ambassador to Barbados and several other Eastern Caribbean nations. The nomination was submitted to the Senate alongside numerous other appointments for judicial positions, diplomatic roles, and administration officials. Her duties would include representing the U.S. in Barbados, as well as serving as the principal envoy to Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

It is customary for a single individual to concurrently act as ambassador to Barbados and neighboring Caribbean island states, many of which are compact and lack their own distinct U.S. diplomatic missions. In a post on Instagram, Kimberly Greenwood expressed her gratitude to President Trump, describing the nomination as one of the greatest honors of her life.

The Greenwood family has been closely linked with the administration of President Trump, with Lee Greenwood's song "God Bless the USA" often played as his rally walk-up tune, and the country musician performing the anthem live at some Trump events. The president and the singer have also collaborated on selling a line of Bibles. Kimberly Greenwood, previously Miss Tennessee, has worked closely with the president in his role as the former owner of the Miss Universe pageant, directing the Miss Tennessee, Miss Mississippi, and Miss Georgia pageants.

She has expressed her deep appreciation for President Trump's continued confidence in her. Additionally, Kimberly Guilfoyle, a pro-Trump former Fox News anchor and ex-girlfriend to the president's eldest son, has been chosen as ambassador to Greece.
