Timely power supply key to success of megaprojects, PM says

Prime Minister Han Seong-sook emphasized Tuesday that the success of the government's three megaprojects heavily relies on a consistent electricity supply and a strong power transmission grid. The megaprojects, centered around semiconductors, artificial intelligence, AI data centers, and AI-driven administrative innovation, demand a significant amount of power.

She asserted that it would be an understatement to claim that the key to the megaprojects' success is the timely provision of electricity and the prompt establishment of the power transmission network. Han underscored the critical role of public cooperation in the construction of the power transmission network. Furthermore, she directed the Cabinet to monitor for any unfair market practices that might lead to price hikes ahead of the upcoming Chuseok holiday, noting that inflationary pressures are increasing due to rising oil prices amidst the renewed conflict in the Middle East. Han also mentioned the spread of influenza and other acute respiratory infections.
